Meet the Founders of Azone Community Center, Inc.
Derrick White is a well-known fixture in the Treasure Valley youth sports scene, where he has spent the last two decades coaching and training athletes in multiple sports, such as basketball, football, track, softball and boxing. Derrick ran Azone sports for 15+ years and competed at a very high level with his boys' and girls' travel basketball teams. He coached wheelchair basketball for Boise State, and he has also led youth outdoor adventure programs and developed intensive speed/strengh training programs for multiple youth sports organizations. In addition to sports, Derrick has been a leader of youth and music ministries in the Treasure Valley, where he has built lasting relationships that are still strong today. Derrick is a talented musician and singer who loves to perform and help others in that area as well. His hobbies include cooking, fixing and building things, camping,playing piano and riding his motorcycle.
Amy Myers has been a part of the Boise community for 30+ years, For the last 26 years, Amy has been a dedicated junior high teacher, teaching English and Reading in the Boise School District. Amy raised her kids in Boise, where they participated in youth sports and theater. She is passionate about giving back and helping young people achieve their goals and is well-connected in many areas. Amy is an accomplished writer and is working on her first book. Her hobbies include spending time with her kids, reading, camping and hiking.
